U.S. and Antigua Break Off Settlement Talks in Internet Gambling Dispute

The United States and the Caribbean islands of Antigua and Barbuda ("Antigua") have halted their negotiations to settle their dispute over the U.S. ban on Internet gambling. The two parties had been attempting to reach a resolution since June of this year, when a World Trade Organization ("WTO") panel ruled that the U.S. ban violated global trade rules. Antigua is expected to notify the WTO that it wishes to resume the suspended proceedings, after which the WTO will release the decision and the U.S. will likely proceed with its anticipated appeal of the ruling.
