U.S. Judge Orders Shut Down of Website Selling Tax Evasion Advice

A website selling materials on tax-evasion has been shut down by order of a U.S. federal judge. Judge Thomas J. McAvoy ruled that the two organizations responsible for the website, and their founder, could not be protected by the First Amendment because the site urged (and in fact resulted in) criminal conduct. Judge McAvoy also ordered that the contact information and social security numbers of those individuals who received the materials be provided to the government in order to assist the IRS in identifying those who followed the tax-evasion advice.
