Photo of Placenta on Facebook Results in Expulsion from School for Student

Doyle Byrnes ("Byrnes"), a student of nursing at Johnson County Community College in Kansas, was expelled from school for posting a picture of herself and three other students with a human placenta.

Byrnes allegedly asked her nursing instructor whether she could pose for a picture with the placenta and her instructor did not object.  Hours after the picture was taken, however, Byrnes posted the picture on her Facebook page.  To date there is no evidence that the photo was posted for the sake of amusement.  As a result of the posting, the school expelled Byrnes and the three other students.  Byrnes is currently suing the school and is asking to be reinstated immediately.
