Parents Sue School District for Use of Wi-Fi

Parents of students attending school within an Illinois school district have sued the school district and several of its administrators over the district's use of Wi-Fi wireless networking technology. The school district has established a wireless wide-area network (WAN) in order to connect its schools to one another and set-up wireless local area networks (LANs) in its schools.

The statement of claim filed by the parents alleges that the district has breached the duty of care it owes to its students by exposing them to unreasonably dangerous health risks caused by constant exposure to high-frequency electromagnetic radiation. The parents are requesting a moratorium on the use of Wi-Fi technology within the district's schools until it has been proven to be safe.
