Ohio Court Initiates Online Posting of Videos of Court Proceedings
According to recent news reports, an Ohio County Court Judge has begun to post videos of sentencing hearings on the Internet. Videos posted include sentences for robbery, rape and other crimes. The Judge is quoted as saying that the information will increase the understanding of law students and of the general public. While public access to court hearings is a fundamental aspect of an open court system, posting sentencing proceedings on the Internet raises controversial issues about the tension between public access and personal privacy.
