Motorola Mobility Takes a Bite out of Apple in Patent Ruling

In a recent U.S. International Trade Commission decision, Judge Theodore Essex found that Motorola Mobility did not violate the patent rights of Apple Inc. (“Apple”) with respect to certain imports into the United States.

As a whole, this decision represents just one battle in a war that Apple has waged over four continents against several makers of Android phones.

Apple is the world leader with respect to the Smartphone market accounting for approximately 29% as compared to Google’s Android which powers more than half of the Smartphones in the world.

Motorola Mobility (which agreed to be purchased by Google) for its part had gone on the offensive and a trade commission judge should be handing down a ruling on its case against Apple on April 23, 2012.
