Mosaid Technologies Sues RIM, Intel and others for Patent Infringement

Mosaid Technologies Inc., a public company (TSX) headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario, recently commenced patent infringement proceedings against Research in Motion, Intel and 15 other companies for unlicensed use of patent-protected Wi-Fi technology.  The proceedings were commenced in the Eastern District of Texas in the U.S. District Court.  Mosaid, which describes itself as Canada's leading patent licensing company, has more than 2000 patents covering memory, wireless, microcomponents and communications technologies.  According to Mosaid's website, they are now focused on monetizing the innovations protected by their extensive portfolio of patents, with wireless, and in particular Wi-Fi, identified as a key revenue growth driver.
