ICANN Officially Approves Two New Domain Names

ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) approved two new top level domains, .jobs and .travel, at its recent International conference in Mar del Plata, Argentina. The .jobs domain is targeted to the human resources community while the .travel domain is specific to the travel industry.

The prospective date for the domains to be made available for public registrations is late this year due to the fact that companies running those names must now set up registration and other procedures.

The oversight agency has ongoing negotiations with potential registries taken from a pool of ten sponsored top-level domain names while preliminary approval has already been granted for two more domain names: .post and .mobi.
