On the Offensive: Google files suit against British Telecom

Further to the on-going legal saga wherein British Telecom has alleged that a vast array of Google products infringed its patents, Google has countered by alleging that British Telecom has infringed a series of four (4) Google patents.

While the Google patents protect inventions with such erudite titles as "reserving system resources to assure quality of service" and "connection capacity reassignment in a multi-tier network”, it would appear that at first instance the inventions themselves originated by IBM and Fujitsu and were subsequently acquired by Google.

This present tactic employed by Google is a common strategy as it provides the Court with the ability of granting a damage claim against the aggressor in addition to invalidating a patent.
