Facebook Post Breaches Juror's Oath

A Michigan juror has been removed from a criminal trial after commenting about an ongoing case on Facebook.  The juror was ordered to pay a $250 fine and to write an essay on the constitutional right to a fair trial.  The comment (“gonna be fun to tell the defendant they're GUILTY”) was discovered by the defence team before the defence had started its case.  In making his order, the judge noted that it did not matter whether the juror used Facebook to express an opinion or simply spoke to a friend about the case; in either event she broke her oath by pre-judging the trial.
