Facebook Parody Website Preemptively Sues Facebook in the United States

Lamebook LLC ("Lamebook"), a website that allegedly mocks Facebook, had been threatened for allegedly infringing Facebook's trade-marks.  In the face of possible impending litigation, Lamebook pre-emptively sued Facebook in Federal Court in November 2010, requesting a judicial declaration that it does not infringe Facebook's trade-marks.  As a result, Facebook filed a lawsuit in the Federal Court, claiming that Lamebook is not a legally protected parody and that it is an attempt to trade off Facebook's popularity and fame.

The Lamebook website began in April 2009.  They claim that the website is a "clear parody" and does not infringe or dilute Facebook's trade-mark.  In addition, they stated in their complaint that the website is "a protected form of expression under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution".
