FTC Issues Report on P2P File Sharing
The US Federal Trade Commission recently issued its report on P2P file sharing. The report discusses several timely issues, such as how P2P works, risks associated with P2P, technological protections for P2P consumers, government and industry responses to P2P and the future of P2P.
The FTC notes that P2P technology can be used in a number of legitimate applications; however, the technology comes with consumer risks (including security, virus and adware risks) and raises important legal issues for copyright holders.
