FDA Sends Warning to Minnesota over its Prescription Drug Website

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a serious warning to Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty about the state's operation of a website at MinnesotaRxConnect.com.system, which facilitates online purchases of lower-cost pharmaceuticals from Canadian internet pharmacies. Alleging that the site is "unsafe", "unsound" and "illegal", the FDA is hoping to encourage Governor Pawlenty "to do the right thing" and has so far refrained from threatening or taking legal action to shut down the three-week old website. The Governor, however, appears to be standing firm, declaring in response to the warning that the State will continue to operate the site.
