Bodog, one of the world’s largest and most controversial gaming companies, has attracted scrutiny in its application for a UK online gaming operating license as a result of its alleged continuing illegal contravention of the U.S. Unlawful Internet Gambling and Enforcement Act. It is thought that Bodog, which continued to take bets from U.S. customers notwithstanding the Act’s passage in 2006, may not meet the “fit and proper operator” test required for a UK license.
Many online gaming companies have boycotted the UK regulatory regime as a result of the 15% remote gaming tax.
