Bankrupt software vendor Commerce One auctioned about 40 of its patents in San Francisco bankruptcy court earlier this month. JGR Acquisitions won over seven bidders including two companies associated with former Microsoft Corp. CTO, Nathan Myhrvold. The Commerce One patents relate to methods for companies to communicate and provide specific types of information in automated transactions over the Internet. Analysts believe the patents could cover e-commerce technology used by other companies. Little is known of JGR Acquisitions and it has not announced its plans for the patents.
