Four Manitoba MDs were censured by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba for signing prescriptions for U.S. patients seeking cheap drugs through Canadian online pharmacies. The MDs are still allowed to practice but are left with tarnished public records. Ottawa recently sent letters to Provincial governments and professional groups warning them of a potential shortage of drugs if too much of the product is shipped south. A growing number of U.S. states and cities are expressing interests in purchasing cheaper drugs from Canadian online pharmacies, and a coalition of six leading Internet pharmacies in Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia have stated that they will meet the increased demand.
