British Bookmaker Blocks Online Betting by U.S. Customers
William Hill, a British Bookmaker, has recently taken steps to suspend all betting from online customers in the United States. The bookmaker is no longer accepting casino and poker bets from customers with a U.S. address or U.S.-issued credit card. Earlier, the bookmaker had blocked U.S. customers from betting on its online sports markets. The actions taken by William Hill are intended to address the uncertainty in the U.S. on the legality of online gambling. The scope and enforceability of U.S. gambling laws has recently come to the forefront of the gambling industry due to the recent arrests of two high-profile executives who are both due to face trial in the United States.
