A Social Housing Firm Awarded 100000 Pound for Internet Libel Damage Compensation

A social housing firm and its owner were awarded £100,000, the highest Internet libel damages ever awarded in the UK’s High Court history. Gentoo, formerly the Sunderland Housing Group, was under attack by an anonymous website known as “Dads Place” at dadsplace.co.uk, making defamatory and abusive allegations ranging from corruption to nepotism and the promotion of female employees in return for sexual favors.

The owner of rival housing firm was found to be responsible for a “malicious, unpleasant and relentless campaign of libel and harassment”, conducted from behind a cloak of anonymity.
