Pennsylvania Attorney General Seeks Tweeter Identity Disclosure

With the support of civil liberties organizations backing its position, Twitter has not complied with a grand jury subpoena ordering that it disclose the identities of two of its users. The users in question criticized the State of Pennsylvania’s attorney general, Tom Corbett. Twitter’s lawyer, Timothy Yip, issued a statement providing that “we protect and do not disclose user information except in limited circumstances”. The subpoena is relevant to a sentencing hearing in a criminal case against a former political aide. If he is found to be the tweeter, this would impact the severity of his punishment
