New Commission to Regulate Internet Gambling in U.K.

The In early April 2005, the British Parliament passed new legislation that overhauls Britain's outdated gaming regulations and regulates online gambling. Under the Gambling Bill, which is already in force, online casinos are allowed to operate from Britain for the first time. Further, a new commission with the power to carry out investigations, bring about prosecutions, levy fines and void unfair bets will be established to regulate the industry. Although the new commission will not have the power to regulate the practices of online casinos operating outside of Britain, it could ban such casinos from advertising there
