Microsoft Corp. has filed a suit in Germany against a company and its managing director alleged to be directing a web of companies in the U.S. and the Ukraine distributing millions of unsolicited e-mails.
Microsoft is seeking damages and an injunction to cease against the unnamed North Rhine Westphalia based company and its managing director. As the sending of unsolicited e-mails is not regulated in Germany, Microsoft is basing its complaint on German fair trade laws.
According to the statement issued on Microsoft's German-language website, the defendant company sent millions of e-mails advertising pornography, online casinos and website design services to Hotmail users.
