Asian-Pacific Regulators Increase Efforts to Combat Spam

The Australian Communications Authority and the Korean Information Security Agency have brought together twelve Asian-Pacific communications and Internet agencies in the war against spam through the signing of the Seoul-Melbourne Anti-Spam Agreement (the "Agreement"). The agencies involved are from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand and Taiwan.

The Agreement is a multilateral memorandum of understanding focused on sharing knowledge, information and intelligence about known sources of spam, network vulnerabilities, methods of spam propagation, and technical, educational and policy solutions to the problem of spam. The co-operative relationship initiated by the Agreement will focus on making the business of spamming less profitable.
