Apple to Ripen with Solar Touch Screen?
Apple Inc. has filed an application to patent solar technology in touch screen devices, integrating solar cell panels beneath the touch screen surface. Apple’s recently published application 20100079387 describes a stack-up configuration for conserving surface area on portable devices such as media players or cell phones. Apple has filed numerous solar cell related power management patent applications, suggesting a green future. Speculation is ripe that Apple’s recently leaked prototype with a clear backing suggests solar technology may be provided on more than one side of the maker’s products.
