Apple Extends Trademark Protection for iPhone
Apple, maker of the popular iPhone, recently obtained trademark registration in the United States extending its current "iPhone" registration to include the combination of the word mark with the Apple symbol. The new registration also extends the Classes covered by the mark to include Class 28, which encompasses "playing electronic games".
This step further solidifies Apple's rights to the iPhone brand, despite challenges from Cisco and Canadian company Comwave, which had been using the name for VoIP.
